About me:
After a fulfilling career in the dynamic world of hotel and event management, in the last few years I have embarked on a new creative journey. Having relocated from the stunning landscapes of New Zealand to the picturesque Devon countryside, I have always found inspiration in the natural beauty that surrounds me. After a lifetime of experimenting in the arts as only a part time pursuit, I am now forging a new career and exploring two distinct artistic mediums: woodturning and glassmaking. To enable my skills development I have returned to university as a mature student at the Arts University in Plymouth, where I am constantly practising and refining my skills, and seeking to experiment, innovate and expand my knowledge.
My creative pursuits now involve shaping raw wood into elegant bowls on the lathe, revelling in the tactile experience of working with this natural material. Simultaneously, I delve into the ancient technique of Pate de Verre, meticulously layering and fusing powdered glass to create delicate and luminous bowls. This contrast between the warm, organic nature of wood and the cool, ethereal quality of glass allows me to express my artistic vision in diverse and captivating ways.
